He sure looks like he had a good life.Very sorry for your loss. I lost my 14 year old lab 3 years ago. Finally was able to bring another home 9 months ago. I know it's hard but you should think about another pup.It helps the pain.

I hate it when they go, they're never here long enough. I used to only have one dog, when that dog was gone it was time to start looking for another after a period of grieving. I have decided that it is less traumatic to me when one goes if I have two or three. I keep them pretty well staggered in terms of age and the older dogs help train the newbie. Something to think about, sorry for your loss of Boone.

Something to think about, sorry for your loss of Boone. That's a good idea. I've done that in the past, myself, though not planned. When my last dog died in July, however, that was the first time I was ever left with no other dog after the death of a dog. It definitely does hit you harder.

I'm very sorry Alan and I know exactly how you feel. All of us that have lost our friends and companions have the same hurt inside.I had no idea how badly I would feel when my turn came. One day there will be happy memories but right now there is just an empty helpless feeling. My sincerest sympathies. I really think that sooner is better for a new buddy. Someone to visit with about Boone. Good luck.
We found a new pup at the shelter in two weeks. We weren't planning so soon, but the shelter is 60mi, and we just dropped by when in town and it was her last day. We never regretted it.

I stopped by the shelter on a whim 2-28-04 and found my current pard he was 6mos old, he turned 7 in August, by far the best 75.00 I've ever spent.

I know first hand how much it hurts.....and four-legged, fur toten' machines, can break your heart, when they leave, as much the closest two legged kin can.

Handsome companion. Sorry for your loss. May you find another. He won't be Boone, but he will let you know he is the one for you.

Thanks guys. Kind words and time will smooth things out. I keep thinking about Les losing his mama and these other guy that have had major medical issues. I hope they get through these times as well. This is the same time of year that my own mom lost her battle in 1995. That's been 16 years ago now and it's still there. It gets better but never goes away.
Glad I'm getting to see my boys this Christmas. I have many, many blessings, not the least of which are a bunch of really good folks who take the time to say a few good words about a man's dog.
I appreciate it.
Alan

He had his own swing. Once I built an A-frame for it and put it in a different place. He wouldn't get in it. I had to put it back where it was and he climbed up in it. He had one vice. He had a spot that he would dig up to lay down on the cool soil. Every day he'd dig it out, every day I'd cover it up. Next day he'd dig it up again. It used to bother me sometimes, but I'd love to go back there and find it dug out this morning. But, it's not going to be. Grass will grow over it by next summer and life will go on. Just the way of things.

There's a dog out there Alan, that needs that hole.
