Here we have an Ontario Knife Company ASEK (Aircrew Survival Egress Knife) Survival Knife System, Ontario item #1400. The NSN number on the knife is 1095-01-518-6832 -- this is a GENUINE military issue ASEK knife!

This heavy duty knife is ready to stand up to all the abuse you can send its' way. The ASEK features a 1095 carbon steel blade with black Zinc Phosphate finish to inhibit rust -- the blade measures a hefty .1875 inches thick, and features a serrated edge and heavy duty sawback on the spine. The ASEK measures 10.25" overall and has a 5" blade with a Rockwell (Rc) hardness of 50-54. The one-piece molded handle has spear holes (the hole at the base of the handle also doubles as a lanyard hole) and the handle is molded over the guard for insulating protection as well. The butt cap can be used as a hammer and/or a glass breaker.

The ASEK 1400 comes standard with an Olive Drab green flame-retardant nylon sheath with a Kydex insert to protect the blade edge, two straps, and leg protectors that keep the straps from digging into your leg.

The 1400 also features an Anodized Aluminum strap cutter with screwdriver tip, honing rod, replaceable blade, and a lanyard of its' own.
