A friend has stripped the swivel stud hole on a laminate stock mdl 70, what would be the best way to fix this? I'm guessing maybe a machine screw and nut, inletting the stock to accept the nut and then epoxy/marine tex in place? Or is there a type of insert?

Is your friend named Gumby?
I'd go the machine screw/nut route.
Problem solved.

Where's Pokey?
Mortise the nut down from inside the barrel channel, bed it in epoxy, run the mahine screw up and in from the outside. Voil!

Fore or Aft? You can fill the hole with a good epoxy on the buttstock and redrill, or coat the stud with wax and leave it in the hole as the epoxy dries.
