You know, alot of Savage questions these days go right to Gene from me straight through p.m. cause DAMN that boy knows his stuff. And the worst is that he knows his Stevens more than he does his Savages, he's a king!

Not done yet, just reread it and I now see the note on 'shotgun butt only" for the 22" but there also is a note that any round barrel rifle can be ordered as a takedown except featherweight -
bingo...I'l admit I have seen some t/d short rifles with rifle butts but in my opinion they are rare... seen more standard A's with shotgun butts then short rifles with rifle butts... I hope the new owner is reading and will get a letter and post for us....

its opitcal, its the same as another short barrel I have that a letter came with.

Ya thats what i figured ,i have a 32-40 short rifle, saddle gun, and my brother has one also in 32-40 there around 40 s/n apart but they both have shotgun butts. Don

Yes, the new owner has read this thread and he plans on getting a letter when the rifle arrives. Should arrive tomorrow. Will keep you posted. Eric
