dsducati;
Merry Christmas to you this fine and still morning sir.
Here is a link - hopefully it works - to another discussion on GMX bullets on deer. Part way down the discussion I posted yet another link to a thread I began on recovered GMX bullets as well.
http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/5850125/Re_Recovered_GMX#Post5850125For what its worth, the results I've seen on deer are such that I am carrying a .270 loaded with 130gr GMX when chasing a variety of game here in southern BC - including bull elk, bull moose and black bears - as well as two species of deer which are what I've actually shot with them so far.
Again though, the resulting tissue damage on deer has given me the confidence to carry them in the event I am fortunate enough to run across either a bull moose with few enough tines to be legal here or a bull elk with 6 points or more - again to be legal here.
It should be noted that I am cognizant of the fact that elk and moose are a much, much larger carcass size than deer and of course the bone size is correspondingly larger as well. That taken into account, I've been able to do some pretty good work with the .270 in question and the Good Lord willing will be carrying it, along with the GMX's in it's magazine, come next September.
Hopefully that was some use to you. Good luck on your hunts whichever way you decide.
Merry Christmas and all the best to you in 2012.
Regards,
Dwayne
