I had told a gun smith/friend of mine I was looking for a cheap big bore a few weeks ago. Cheap because I don't see using this rifle but maybe on a 1/2 dozen hunts if I'm lucky and I'd rather spend the money on trophy fees than an expensive rifle.

He called me friday and told me he had trade for an Interarms Whitworth Express in 375 H&H and he e-mailed me some photos, he's in another town. The wood looks real nice and I like the looks of the rifle. He's asking $625 for it and said he'd hold it until monday if I wanted to come look at. He said he had another buyer if I don't want it.
Now I love Winchesters and thats what I was holding out for.
But I'm haven't seen a used Win. Classic for $625. I was hoping to find one of the matte finished/synthetic stock models win. offered a few years ago which I planned to put in a classic lt sporter stock I have. But so far I haven't found one and a new Winchester is going for around $925.
So the Interarms is a $300 savings. I guess I'm just not sure about the finish and quality of the interarms as compared to a winchester. What do you think Interarms for $625 or Winchester for $925?

The Whitworth Express I shot some years ago weighed 7.5 lbs. It flat got your attention from off-hand, let alone any other position. The Winnies I'm familar with run 1-1.5 lbs more, a big difference. They, the Winnies, have a wider stock, if I remember right. E

my pal had a Whitworth and it didn't feed worth crap..
by the time you put that extra money into one..
you are better off with the Winchester, no doubt in my opinion..

If the winchesters are 925 get the best buy you can and get one. They will only go up and you will have it a long long time before you wear it out. Good Hunting "D"
