Shopping for wife a point shoot for late present-need help I know 0 about cameras. She wants it for taking shots from horseback along trails of montana.
Why don't someone make a point shoot with wireless remote?
Any help would be great.

Canon G12, it's at the top of the point and shoot crowd. And I believe you can get a remote shutter release. Do a google search to confirm.
I have this camera and it's great, no buyers remorse at all.

I have an older version of one of the Canon Elph cameras. I really do love it, but I do have to be very careful with it. Meanwhile, I inherited one of the olympus waterproof/shockproof/sandproof/freezeproof/heatproof cameras and it's a great camera. If you are going to be outdoors a lot with the camera, I highly recommend one of these. Especially for fishing, as your really can take pictures underwater.
For the shameless plug for Cameraland, call Joel and he'll answer all your questions.

The Olympus Tough cameras are great in bad conditions for sure! I also have one of the Olympus XZ-1 cameras. The quality is great and has a super fast lens. Definitely call Joel, he can tell you all the options especially if wireless remote is a necessity.
Great photography is not about being in the right place at the right time, it is about putting yourself in the right place at the right time.

Oly used to make quite a few P&S cameras that would operate with a remote...which is 10x more useful than a self timer. I think that it's only available in their DSLR's now, though.

I have a Nikon P7100 as well as a remote and a pocket manfrotto tripod. It takes excellent photos and this whole setup slips into a coat pocket.

I destroyed my first point and shoot while in the field. I decided to toughen things up and went with Nikon's AW-100. Compact, water proof, shock proof and freeze proof. Digital compass and takes great pics.

FWIW I have an earlier version of the Cannon G12 the G9. For a point and shoot I've gotten some shots I was pretty happy with. Took some photos that made nice 8x10 prints. (Not of critters so you might not want them here). The G12 is just newer and better.
The Cannon G's are pretty much the upper end of Point and shoots. Excellent build quality and take the best pics short of the SLR's and newer interchangable lens camera's.
There are other good ones out there too but I sure like my Cannon G9 that FWIW got from Joel at Cameraland :-)............dj
Remember this is all supposed to be for fun.......................
