The last 2 days here at Disney I've been using a pack to haul the families crap around smile roughly 2 8hr days in a row. I haven't been using a waste belt and only have slight irritating feeling on one shoulder. No neck or shoulder pain just rubbing I'm guessing.

What was the timeframe any of you have with pack on before slight discomfort sets in. Pack I'm wearing has about 15lbs of stuff in it. I really don't think that's too bad considering the time length I've had it on. We have done roughly 10 hr days at Disney from time of leaving hotel to return so I'm guessing I've had pack on about 8 hrs each day roughly.

Why not use the waist belt? That's the great thing about the pack you have, it has a load bearing waist belt! Use it!

+1 on the waist belt. With a decent pack that fits, you should be able to pack 15 lbs. all day with no issues. Packs that are built to carry loads are designed so that the weight rests on the hips. If you don't use the belt, I'd expect minor irritation from the shoulder straps after a few hours. If the pack doesn't have a waist belt, it's not built to handle any kind of load.

I agree. I have two small packs that I use for all day hunts that have no waist belts. I limit them to 8, maybe 10 lbs. Above that, my otrher packs must be able to go all day w/o discomfort. Heck, my elk hunting day packs carry 22-28 lbs. all day on off trail hunts w/o discomfort. E

Waist belt. After loosening the shoulder straps, I bend over taking the weight off the straps, hook up the waist belt and cinch it down. When you stand back upright, very little weight will be hanging on the shoulders. You should feel the weight resting on your hips. Snug the waist belt on down and then snug the shoulder straps to pull the load against your back. Make sure waist belt is adjusted to rest on the top of the hips and that is where the weight will rest.

Makes all the difference in the world not to have that weight hanging on your shoulders!

A properly made pack, perfectly fitted, properly loaded, and "driven" correctly will not usually give much (if any) "irritation", ever.

Disney Land? 15 pound pack? Pack irritation?

This has got to be a joke...right?

If it's not, f-ing spot on Big W!
