He was doing them for 90.00 bucks, not a bad price.

+1. Why? Because he's Kampfeld! I've had 4 done by him to include spiral fluting and skeletonizing the bolt handle/knob. All of them are perfect and turnaround time was ridiculous (i.e.: fast). Here's a pic of one.

Karl at Kampfeld is the only game in town IMO, I know others do it but Karls work is always 1st rate.

Kamfeld has done four Rem 700s for me, bolt spiral fluted. All look great and as others hve mentioned, very fast turn time.

It's not hard to come up with the "who" ... But the "WHY"; I'm kind of having trouble with... The only plausible answer I can offer; is to be like how many other copycats here on the 'fire... It would seem as if one person did one, someone else thought it looked "KEWL", and guess what? It started a Campfire fad....

Personally, I can't see that it saves enough weight to notice... I have many lwt rifles, and only one fluted bolt. (And it's NOT spiral fluted...) I bought it that way. It's a Daryl Holland custom purchased from an esteemed member of the 'fire, of whom I'm proud to call a friend. smile And I purchased it long before the "FAD" hit...

FWIW: I've played COPYCAT all that I intend to... smile (Yeah... I got caught up in the "McSwirly" fad, too....)

Umm, ahh, that rifle surely belongs either to your wife, daughter or girl friend. Right? (I hope) whistle
