Hmm, McDonalds closed at the top of this year's Dow for 2011 Winner's today - up about 35%, while Bank of America is down 59%....could it be everyone is so poor that they are forced to eat Happy Meals?

Or perhaps so much Depression during the Great Depression/Recession of the 21st century they want to 'Get Happy' and cannot afford their SSRI's? I just can't remember the last time I ate there - maybe they sell something besides Cholesterol for Alzheimer's

I remember the original on E street in Berdoo as a small child. Can't recall if it was still MD's or if they had built the new one up the street by then. Just a burger joint there, and when the signs would change in the single digits of the millions sold. Think they claim billions and billions now, Times change.

I thought the original mickey D's was in Des Plains IL?

I know Kroc bought the rights to the milkshake gig from some guys in CA but didn't think they did the franchise gig till they hit the outskirts of Chicago?

It is still there. Sort of a monument now.

My uncle was a plumber and he said he was stiffed on some work he did when they were first building that original store. He had just started his business and couldn't afford to take legal action I guess. He wouldn't step foot in any of them.

I don't drink coffee, so I stop at MD's and get a large diet coke every morning, then drink mostly water the rest of the day. But since they started selling ice coffee, the lines at the drive through are unreal.

Fast food at a good price with great service. McDonalds really got their act back together about 10 years ago.

Best fries on the planet by a mile.

They are good, but if you haven't, give Wendy's "new" fries a try.

You're the 3rd person to bring up Wendy's new fries in the last week. That settles it, I'm gonna check them out today! grin

I like it for a quick breakfast in the morning

hard to beat a sausage biscuit or mcmuffin for $1.

but I don't even think about them for anything other than that.

If I'm going cheap for lunch, I'd rather eat at Subway.
