Any ideas how well the phone works with the gmail?

put my ear right against my monitor and couldn't hear a thing so I'd say it sucks

I use it a lot.

You do need to have your computer on and gmail open to make and receive calls.

On an incoming call, it will ring multiple phones at once and let you pick up any of them. It also has a voice to text function that is neat for your voicemail.

And it's free.

I have to admit I have never known about this.. But I WILL check it out.. Thanks Denton..

The wife has been using Google to phone internationally for a couple of years. It's dirt cheap (a good thing; I want to say it's 2 cents a minute to Tokyo) and the quality is almost always excellent.

If you open your gmail account and minimize it, then your phone will be active. I have a business account plus a personal account. All day long, I'm using the business account. But I can also open a second instance of my browser, open my personal account, and minimize it.

My 11 year old budding computer guru of a grandson has called our house several times via what I believe was gmail phone. I didn't answer it the first couple of times because I didn't recognize the number it used.

Thanks all, I did open an account with gmail. I called Ontario, and was told I sounded as though I was in a barrel. I need to learn about receiving calls yet. It is tough being an old dog trying to learn new tricks. Did I hear a reguler phone can be used with it?
