Belonged to my former barber and friend that wouldn't go to the doctor when he was experiencing unusual chest pain a few months back. We had talked about going shooting together a couple times and never put a range session together. Might have to have it for sentimental reasons.

I know how it might feel to ask about the rifle but one of my .264s is just such a rifle. A gent that was like a father to me owned it and about 25 years ago his oldest son got on drugs and stole it to buy drugs. The gun was missing for years. My Richard never reported it stolen because he knew his son got it. A friend of mine was doing some work for a gent and when he got sone he offered to pay him with guns. One of the guns was the .264 with the Unertl scope still mounted just like it left. I tried to buy it for 4 years. The boy that had it came in at work one day and I had been thinking about the rifle mighty hard. I told him to name his price. Even if 3 or 4 times its real value I would have bought it. He came back a few days later and told me he would sell it for what he had in it. He knew why I wanted it. It is now mine and now it is priceless. Don't let it get away from you if it really has sentimental value. Here is the rifle that was once my late friends. reflex264

One thing I have found is it isn't that hard to get 140 partitions out at 3200 from a 26" or 3150 from a 24". Either way it shoots very flat and the bullet performs all out of proportion to its 140gr weight. I have used 7 mags, .300 Win Mag and .300 Weatherby mags. The only thing I would rather have any of them for is a big brown bear and that one would be the .300 Weatherby even though I would probably carry one of my .416s. For anything up to moose the .264 with a 140gr partition would get the nod. reflex264

You make a great point about the 120 gr stuff..

That's something I need to explore and develop by this next summer. The .264WM is still my most favorite round..

Thanks for the info..

I killed two deer with my 700 CDL with fluted blue barrel in MO this year. Just used factory Rem 140 core-lokt. I get a hair over MOA. Both were in the 150-180 yard range. Both dropped in their tracks, kicked a little and died. It was fantastic! I love the gun and would recommend the cartridge to anyone. Even if you don't need a 26" barreled magnum to make sub-200 yard shots. :P

I love my 264 Win Mag, I use 140 gr XLC ahead of 65 grains of IMR 7828 velocity 3,200fps. I currently having are local gunsmith rechamber a weatherby vanguard in 7mm Remington Magnum to a 264. I would like to try 140 grain Berger vld. Anybody have any info on this round

You should have him rebarrel it to 270 Weatherby, the factory ammo will do what carefully handloaded .264 will do...provided you keep your shots to 600 yards.

I have a pushfeed M70 that I had been toying with the idea of makeing a 6.5-06 out of. Now I think I'll just make it a 264WM.

I've had both the .264 Win. and the .270 WSM. I much prefer the 270 WSM

No particular desire for a .264, but if I stumbled across a nice #1, or M70 in the caliber at a reasonable price, I would not turn it down, either.

Never had much interest in the WSM but if I was going to build or buy one it would probably be the 7mm.
