I was forced to remember all I had forgotten about blackpowder loads and blackpowder substitutes. It turns out original designations of blackpowder (IE, the "40 grains" in the .44-40)had nothing to do with weight of charge, and substitutes such as Pyrodex are not even remotely related to weight.
