I just got my Krieger blank yesterday. I ordered it the last week of August and already got it!!!!!

I think I got lucky and got in right when they were about to make a run. They told me 10-12 weeks, and I got it in 5. Shipped to my door I paid $322. Of course I need to have it chambered and installed, but they guy doing it is one of the best.

I sure wouldn't waste time and money on a shaw. I"d sooner spend the money truing the action and having the factory barrel set back. As mentioned early on someone had a 788 barrel replaced. I've never seen a 788 that wouldn't shoot .5 moa or less with the factory tube. The gain there should have been nothing.

When going the extra mile to upgrade, go all the way. Other than that spend it on firelapping and load work and keep it the way it is.

My 2 cents.

Jeff

fwiw,
I'd suggest you skip the Shaw Barrel and the previously mentioned "firelapping". Lots of good barrel companies out there depending on what you are looking for. Rock and Broughton are good tubes that have yet to be mentioned...imho

I have barrels by kreiger,schneider,hart,pac-nor,mclennon and gaillard. So far all have proven very accurate with the schneider and gaillard fouling the least and the kreiger and pac-nor fouling more for the first couple of range sessions.

jetbrook,
I have PacNor and Krieger barrels. Maybe this will ease your mind about PacNor. Here's the first 10 shots out of a brand new PacNor barrel with factory Ammo. I mounted the scope that morning, and the action wasn't even bedded in the Mcmillan yet. She really drives tacks now! Ordered another one today...
