He is Gaylan's Give Me Liberty, better known as Gus. He was born on the 4th of July 2009, so about 2.5 yrs old right now. That bird is really all his. He told me he was going to flush it and he then he did. Rignt at our feet. I let it go a bit to avoid "overpenetration" if you know what I mean and then barely touched it with the first shot, missed with the second. We marked it several hundred yards out and Gus was on him in a heart beat. The grass was 7-8 ft tall and hard to see in and the bird ran across my left boot with Gus in pursuit. We tracked it another 100 yds and then Gus dove into a pile of grass and it was over. I reached in to grab it, got spurred but held on so Gus could back off enough to let the grass out of his mouth that made it impossible to back out with it. Live and kickin' but we bagged him.

That is Molly, an English Setter that belongs to my hunting pardner. I am a longtime user of double barrels, here is a 12 gauge Winchester I have owned a long time, it is 20 years older than me! However, I will keep all my other shotguns (semi's, pumps, SxS, and single shots) just love shotguns to much to limit myself to only one type. Whoa! That is the nicest shotgun I've seen a long time. I dn't know much about Winnies though. My oldest shotguns are from the 70s and 80s. The 1870s and 80s. I love sidebys but I have two pumps of family significance that I will always keep. The 97 Winchester gets hunted for turkeys now and again. Brent

Sako 75 LH in .25-06 with reflex moderator and Schmidt and Bender 4-16x50. Very heavy setup at the moment, going to slim it all down over the next while, rebarrel and ditch the moderator. Only use it because the muzzle blast of the 22.5" barrel is thoroughly antisocial.

Should be a good barn rifle, because that's where I would be sleeping.

The 17's foul after a few shots, anyways.. So I've read. I heard that same thing, but I bought one anyhow. All the while I had it, I never had those issues. The only issue I had with it was that IMR4320 was the best powder for it and I had to tap every powder load through a tiny funnel to reload. I sold it and had a 220 Swift made and never looked back...

Kimber Montana .338 Federal. Weighs 5 lbs 14.2 oz without sling. A Brownells Latigo will complement it nicely. I bought it used and recently finished a bed job and rattle can paint job. I'm happy with how the paint turned out. Range time will tell the tale on the bed job. It took this buck prior to paint and bedding

If that rifle kills bucks like that why bother with bed and paint? You might have jinxed it!
Nice buck for sure. Really cool stickers.

Ironic, that huge stump was probably cut down to make gun stocks and there sits the latest greatest plastic.

Ironic, that huge stump was probably cut down to make gun stocks and there sits the latest greatest plastic. Now this is Ironic! That is a big red oak stump in my backyard, and the tree was cut after it fell on my house in a windstorm. The whole house shook, and I thought a tornado had hit.
