What is the difference between these cameras? I've noticed the T2i is coming down quite a bit in price, around $549 last I noticed, and wondered what the main differences were.
Thanks!

main difference is that the t3i has the flip-out screen.
check dpreview.com and look for the t3i here to see all the differences.

will have to read a bit here...

The sensors are the same so image quality should be the same as well. In addition to the flip out screen there is probably some increased functionality. However neither of those are going to give you better image quality.

My advice would be to save some cash and buy the T2i...especially if you are a newbie and put the savings towards better lenses.

We went through this back in June last year....

We went t3i not for the flip screen but for auto focus ability in video capture mode i think.

But then we found out we use the flip screen a lot for odd shots like holding the cam overhead or possitioning the cam on the ground looking upwards etc.

You can use that silly flip screen to help with those goofy shots.

Something clever here.

I have no idea.

We settled on the rebel body T3i and now we are more focussed on lenses.

It's the wife's cam. She has 1 L lens, a 24-105 f4 IS EF.

Hhat's her only lense right now and we certainly do not regret buying that lense as a general purpose "walk around" lens.

looking forward I'm thinking about the 50mm 1.4 USM or the f2.5 macro (leaning towards the f1.4)

And also a longer lens to help her beyond 104. (70-300 or 100-400)

I'll be begging the smart kids in the photography section here for help with that (again) when the time comes.

it is also EXTREMELY helpful for doing self-family pictures (where you want everyone in the shot). You flip the viewfinder all the way out, then can look in the viewfinder while positioning everyone - including yourself... Then go set the timer and get back in.
easier than positioning everyone except yourself and hoping you get into the picture decently smile We have done this a lot. I just sold a canon point & shoot (SX10IS) that had this screen - liked it a lot.

I just ordered a 60d with 18-135 IS lens. I think it came today and I'll be having fun figuring it out in the following (weeks/months?). smile
Have heard a lot of good stuff about that lens (as well as the 18-55 kit lens that I believe the rebel's come with.) Just be sure your lens has image stabilization.
