Looking for reviews on this AR compared to Bushy and RRA...etc. I've Ben thinking of going this route over a scar for a bench/hunting rifle.

Only passing along second hand info but I haven't heard any negative reports other than cost.
They use abarrel that is almost identical to Noveske, light weight modular handguard and quality components inside.

LaRue are over priced and you are paying for the name, RR is just as good

Oh, if we add in the Geissele trigger, LW-50 barrel, a much better hanguard and billet (which I don't like but do increase cost) upper and lower, MOE furniture, 6.25 pounds, I'd say RR was way behind.
Pay for a name or pay for what you get, you get quite a bit with the LaRue.

I won't argue that RR isn't top of the line, but most every one I've ever shot or seen shot will do .75 moa all day long with the right loads. Most don't need or want more than that.
To risk trying to get below that with a Walther barrel is like risking it with a douglas..... if I'm about to spend money, real money, I want a top line barrel, not an almost top line one.
With La Rue like some others you pay to get their name and if thats what you gotta do, you gotta do it, me, I'd rather have a real custom done for less money in the end typically.
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

So.......what's your recipe for a lightweight, accurate AR? Please give specifics on upper, lower, barrel, stock, trigger, free float tube, BCG, etc. You seem to really know your stuff, I'd like a recommendation.

Me, have yet to see a Krieger or Rock tube even light weight contours, shoot bad. Worst I"ve seen is one that was shooting 10 shot groups at 300 yards of 2 to 2.25 inches on average.
The rest of the parts really don't matter that much as long as its a good bolt( and any of the makers can turn out good or bad at times) and headspaced to a properly done barrel.

The way something looks and feels matters to most as well as weight and durability.
Of course a super tight upper lower fit and a 3/4" 3 shot accuracy guarantee is all some have...

I have a LaRue Predatar 5.56 with an 18 inch bbl. It has been 100% reliable so far. It shoots several loads- five shots under one inch at 100 yards (Harris bipod over the roof of my Kubota ATV), almost everything else goes under two inches. It handles well and I like it. Shot a doe this year at 175 yds with the 53 grain Barnes bullet (one it shoots very well). Went down in her tracks, very impressive as I have mostly shot bigger stuff through the years.

All I'm saying is the barrel is what makes the AR accurate and you don't have to pay double just to get a Big name. The cheaper ones will shoot with the Big name brand if the barrel is a good one

bea175, Curious, What did you pay for the end product in the above pic (top one)? Total price - less optic. If you did the work yourself what would be the estimated cost of a smith and then total cost of parts? Thanks

Good Lookin gun(s) I've been hemming and hawing for a few years about an AR build and would be tempted to try and duplicate what you have put together.

C'mon bea175, it's just us guys, we won't tell your wife how much you spent... LOL
Never try to add up what you spent on a custom build. We don't build em to save money...
Looking at what I've spent on mine LaRue's price is getting cheaper.
