Eric: I used Rem factory loads as a baseline, and the following loads were shot from the same rifle, on the same day across the chrono. Rem. FMJ 2070fps; 72gr IMR3031, 2133fps. 74.5gr H335, 2210fps. These loads were Win brass, Fed 215 primers and TrophyBonded Sledgehammer solids. 74.5grs H335, 2175fps. 74gr IMR4895, 2156fps. 75gr IMR4320, 2210fps. The components for the last three were the same, except the bullet was Barnes FMJ. These loads are the average of three shots each, and the barrel was cleaned after each string. The rifle is a Winchester CRF with a 24" Douglas bbl. and is a left-hand action, built for a P/H in Zimbabwe. I have a pre-64 African (25"bbl) and my average velocity for ALL loads runs 25-30fps less. Go figure. At no time was there any problem with these loads. NO PRESSURE SIGNS! All loads fed and extracted flawlessly. My choice of loads is the H335, it seems to be most consistant. Remember what the loading manuals caution; start a grain lower, and work up. Sakubona, Mukiwa

watch out for pressure spikes if the ambient temp goes up..
<br>if you developed those loads at say 70F, it's a different ballgame at 90F..

Re: pressure spikes with .458WM I've shot the H335 load in Zim when the temp was in the mid, to upper 90's, and again, I reiterate---NO PRESSURE PROBLEMS! All the bullets were 500grs FMJ and SP. Before I used the load on the hunt, I took four of each and shot a target at 25yds as rapidly as I could work the bolt, (of course there was a short time lag between loading, and shooting the next four) and as I stated, all rounds fed and extracted as smooth as glass. Maybe I have found the proper combination for my rifle(s). Mukiwa

Thanks StevePP, I'll keep that in mind. I live in sunny South Texas so, I try to make it a practice to back off a bit. Nothing better than having the temperature in the mid-90's with humidity to match. Man I wish I had a 300 yd indoor range at times.
