Ok Guys looks like I'm a bit outa the loop..

When did BH209come out? And it's smokeless? Is there restrictions in certain states with this powder? It's safe to shoot in any muzzloader???

Here's their website with loads of info. Everything they state is true based on feedback by many satisfied users over the last couple of years.

It's good stuff.

I shoot it in a TC Omega. I really like it. You have to use a standard shotgun primer. Also, use standard cleaning solutions(not water). I forgot to clean it mid-summer, the last time I shot it. Cleaned up just fine this fall when I went to use it again. I wish I had some pictures of my 200yd groups...

It's not considered smokeless powder, it's considered a black powder substitute and it is safe.

It is a black powder substitute and it still smokes wink.

I have used it the last couple years. It is cleaner and more consistent than pyrodex.

Don't get too excited. #11 caps and BH209 are not compatable according to the manufacturer.

Check out the FAQs on Blackhorn's website.

Won't work and its not really recommended to be used in a plunger style muzzy.

This is straight off of the BH209 website:

NO. #11 percussion caps, or musket caps do not have sufficient strength to ignite Blackhorn 209.

Of course you could buy one of these: flame thrower 209 conversion

Thanks guys. With my states regulations looks like i'll have to stick with the way I've been doing things. Which isnt a bad thing! =)

I'd put a musket cap nipple on your Firehawk and stick with the 777. I have the same gun and the musket caps aren't as hot as 209's so you don't get the crud ring. They are a good deal hotter than #11 caps so you get better ignition.

It's the combination of the 777 with a 209. I've never had a crud ring with any other powder/primer combo. Never used shockeys gold.

I use BH209 in my Omega now and I love it. Without spending a lot of money converting it to 209's the muslet cap and 777 loose are the best bet in the Firehawk IMO.
