I'm trying to find out about when a Savage 99E S/N A4136XX? I have been able to date my older guns, but can't figure this one out. Anyone know how?
Thanks
Mike

Great. Thanks Mad Dog. I was made in 69. Dang gun is as old as me and in better shape. It was my first deer gun and I just finished replacing the sear it. Its been in the safe for years because it wore to the point that it would fire when the bolt was closed. Thanks to Lightfoot (He had the part) it's up and running again.
I couldn't afford much of a scope for it back in the day and it wore a crappy Bushnell until the crosshairs fell out. I just set it up with some Leupy rings and bases and put on an old M8 4x that I think might be of the same vintage.
Is there a reference guide that has this 99 info?

Great. Thanks Mad Dog. I was made in 69. So was I. Is there a reference guide that has this 99 info? Ya, me! No, no reference guide, just a few of us that took some time and kept some data on date codes. As well as an old friend that ain't around this site anymore helping out ALOT with A series numbers.

Well I appreciate it. I always wondered when it was made. Gonna be fun to get this thing sighted in and see how it shoots. When I was a kid we used to just sight in on a 12x13 steel plate at 250 yards and once we could hit it, that was good enough.
