This fire casts a warm, and welcoming glow........evident in spades,...........readin' the above, NEWBY,..myself,and totally new to this computer bit.......I write a bit, and always took a perverse , and in retrospect, inordinate pride, in scribbling down articles with an engineer's mechanical pencil, and letting my missus do transcription, and keyboard computer work, to the publisher.

I'm single now, ..........and had 2 choices , hire a word processor...or try to learn this game...clasic "old Dog, New Tricks" dilemma...............could have played typing excercise game or just dived in, and entered into intelligent civil, passionate, rowdy, off the wall ,educational, and extemely enjoyable dialogue, with a bunch of talented, and basically like minded folks.

Got a digital camera.....have learned how to upload the product, into the box....next stunt?....figuring out " Photobucket", and sending in some pics. Get rid of that creepy avatar............

It's pretty plain to see that there's a good thing going on here, and it beats the krap out of typing excecisseseeseseseseseseseseseses

Work safe, GTC

I don't remember how I got here or why, or for that matter what I am doing here.

Can this page be classified as a hobby?

As you can see by my post count, I don't speak up very often, but I go way back to AO and Shooters. I thought the party was over when Shooters imploded, but joined the exodus to this site. This board has taught me so much I just have to jump in and say "Thanks!" Actually, I sometimes type with 2 fingers now. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> ...cowdoc...

For the most part, I am a reader not a writer. I joined Shooters in 1997 and have since made an effort to read all of your collective wisdom everyday that the internet is available to me. If we could count the number of States and Provinces from which I have read all of the luminous commentary that is posted on the Campfire, I would wager that I would at least get honorable mention. I was on the old Shooters forum, though as here I was mostly a reader, rarely posted. Can't remember the year, 2000 or a bit earlier; took a while to get here after it died. Glad to see some of the same folks though.

Kinda fun to read through this thread. Some of the names from the old Shooters site like Ole Sarge sure brought a smile to my face.

That sure was weird the way shooters blew up wasnt it?

Started here earlier this year under DJE then forgot my password and logged back as Okie. Still need to pay TLee back for an April 1st joke I bit on. The Campfire can be a nice warm place at times. I've been workin and huntin the past few weeks and have not looked in much, but I did notice the lack of BillT posts-Did you fellas finally starve him to death?

I will be watching my 6, thanks for the heads up! I can only say that I feverently HOPE BillT is gone. I cannot stand that kind of blind hate and bigotry.

Yes it would be nice to have heard the last of Bill. I would not watch my 6 too hard as I had nearly forgotten about it...well nearly....

JimR from here on the 'campfire was listed as a reference by an outfitter from Wyoming I was checking out. Upon calling him we had quite a conversation in which the 'campfire came up. I checked it out and have pretty much have kept the snow dusted off a log here ever since; I think that was early in 2003.

I was a refugee from .shooters.com and a previous to that, a refugee from alloutdoors.com. I showed up in December of 2002 and asked Rick for a place to talk about deer hunting.

had a crappy year Boggy. Robin and I have split up so to speak. She decided after 14 years we would be better as just "friends". (long sigh....) I obviously had no vote in the matter.

I live farther up in the mountains now about 5 miles from Larkspur Colorado. 150 foot pine trees in the yard. Feed deer in the front yard every evening. Had both Elk and black bear in the yard also. Bear was eating out of my trash can actually. I know... dumb dumb dumb..... I came home after to many beers and didnt close the garage door.

leg has gotten tons better in the last 12 months finally. Man its taken over 4 years to get to this point though.

Tex

Tex,

Good to hear you are still among us, and very sad to here about you and yours splitting. Glad to hear the leg is finally on the mend.

To the thread at hand, I'm also an AllOutdoors alum, and guess it's been a solid 10 years I've been yacking on the net about hunting.
