Rick, I'm sure we both remember the good old days at AllOutdoors. Heck, I think we had a difference of opinion there once or something like that. Man, have things changed since then. As far as this site goes I think I would qualify as prehistoric. I would imagine I was one of the first 10 or so to sign up. However, since that date I have had to re-sign up several times. Rickster keeps trying to get rid of me in the name of progress, but I he hasn't succeeded yet.

AllOutdoor's... Fall 1998. Like BigSky, I'm "prehistoric" as I believe I signed up when there was less than 100 here.

Wow, brings back many memories!! Was in (mostly out) at Shooters, made a bad detour over to the self-serving 'smith site at Accurate Reloading, but, now call this place home. Sure is nice to log onto a site where people can remain civil, umm, kinda the whole reason for being here in the first place!!!!!

Thanks Sonnie. You roll with the punches. Like Tex, I didn't have much of a choice in the divorce, but I DID have a choice as to how I was going to handle it.

Selling the ranch sucked too, but I share custody with my kids, am back to working in high tech and liking it(unfortunately, turning down a bunch of scouting work) and enjoying life and the new people in it. Guess a guy can't ask for too much more!

Oh, yeah! Elk hunting on Saturday!!!!!

Well the campfire is the first forum i read or joined. That was back in 2000. When i first joined there were only a handful of members. I can remember when the big move from shooters happened. I ended up getting transfered to NC the spring of 2001 and wasn't able to get on the computer very offten. I still lurked, rairly, but it wasn't until 03 when i was transfered to Tok that i started to post again. I've learned alot from the people here and hope to eventualy give back a little when i can. I've had the pleasure of meeting Sitka Deer, muledeer and Master Bonzi. I would like to meet more of you if i ever have the chance. I'd even buy.
Thanks for the thread Muley Stalker! very cool!!

This thread is kinda like old home week around the Campfire. -- no

I don't know why but I have enjoyed this thread...even though I am a newbie, to this board and to this sport.

Cool stuff. I hope someday, 10 years from now, I am laughing and joking about worrying over catching my first fish....or how happy I was when the 'Fire pitched in to help me buy my first guns....or all the people that helped me do something I would have had a hard time doing all on my own.

I really enjoy this place. When I am feeling like an icky pair of crusty field socks....I can come here and read about the adventures/lives of others. It has taught me a lot. But, most importantly, I have made some friends that I will keep as long as they are willing to have me .

Peace out! I like you Need One...even if you think I am just a 'split tail'. You got character...and that comes with experience and time. Hat is off, sir !

came over in 2001 from shooters.com .... was at shooters from 97 to the withering end...

This is my most fequent stop, and I read far more then I post. The other places I haunt are, marlinowners.com and the forum section of Beartoothbullets.com.. I do like my 45-70. The only cartiadge I use from squirrel to black bear The others are more specialized like my 7x57mm which I use for coyotes on up in size only.

Troy, that's the way you were listed in the organizer, probably one of my dumb minutes. You had just hunted with Big Stick and killed a bear! -- no

HG, sorry for the bad start, everyone is welcome here and glad to see you getting started in our sport, (outdoors).

First time you sit at timberline and hear the wind coming up the mountain through the pines you realize how close to God this is and all you can see in any direction is His and you realize we only get to use it for a short time.

It's everyones responsibility to add good wood to the fire so we all learn from each other. Glad you are enjoying your new toys. -- no

That is class from BOTH of Y'All, that is what I like about this place.

NO, you got that right, I feel closer to God out in nature than ANY other place on this planet, wouldn't give it up for ANY price.

HG, you definitly will do to ride the river with.

As you can tell from my registration date I am a newcomer. Until this Spring I didn't have internet hookup. Last Christmas my wife just had to buy me a present but didn't know what to get. It ended up being the internet connection.
Then in one of Mule Deer's magazine columns he mentioned this site. I started lurking in the background, then finally signed up. I spend more time reading the threads than in sending in comments.
I am still undecided whether this forum is a good thing or not. I spend entirely too much time on the computer now and less time out shooting or hunting! At least it is Fall now so I can try to purge myself of the habit, at least for a few weeks.
Seriously, it is fun and I enjoy most everything except for the rants some of the poster get on.

Been here since April of '01. I poked my nose into the hunting forum on Shooters occasionally, but spent most of my time on the Shooters Highpower forum. Probably since late '99 or so. Then when I read on Shooters that all the folks that I respected had split for the greener pastures of the Campfire, I thought I'd check it out as well. Been here ever since.

Tex, glad to hear you are alive and well, and that the leg is getting better. Sorry to hear about you and the missus.

Regards,
Scott

(Edited to add) More kudos to Rick! Thanks again sir !!!

Jan, 01. Another Shooters refugee. (Managed to get banned there after taking exception to the way the moderators became constipated, & came over here.) Been here ever since. Thanks, Rick

I wonder what the final count was at shooters as far as how many of us all got whacked in that one weekend?

It was a sheetload
