Still not sure what the thread size is of the small rear sight screw. Front is 10-32, rear is 5-?. Might be worth having a bunch of these made up as a group purchase. I think the later 19-33 uses a 6-48 vs. the 5-?. Tapping the earlier rifles to use this common screw would be an option if need be.
Good info cause I'm having a hard time finding those screws so I can put that Redfield 102 GG on my 1922.

Don Just dug the one I have out full stock sn 5650 not marked the same and I am unsure of the ejection port. I think savage went through a short period that the word savage was exaggerated seems I have seen the same markings before.

Hello: First post, seeing a lot of knowledgable Savage owners/collectors so I figured this wouold be a good place to start.... I have a Model 19/1933 serial #48950. I am looking for a replacement magazine. I've tried a couple of different sources, but so far no luck. I have a new MkII BV, and tried modifying a standard 5 shot mag to fit. It's close but either won't feed or gets stuck in the magazine well. I don't want to try it again for fear of messing something up. Any suggestions, sources, etc?? thanks

I bought a 10 round mag for the model 7 and it works perfect in my 19-33. You could find an original and pay through the nose but then your losing rounds as well. http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Detail.aspx?pid=115610C&catid=4523

Brownell is cheaper... http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=7944/Product/-22-RIMFIRE-CLIP-MAGAZINE On the Gunparts site I think there might only be one 5 rd and one 10 rd magazine under a dozen different listings. The original 5 rd 19-33 magazine was marked 19-33 or 23AA on the side and only had one notch on the back. Some of the later .22's have a deeper stock so the magazine is longer and has two notches. I think that as long as the magazine has the lower notch it will work in the pre-WWII 23AA's and 19-33's. Also, I beleive it is the Wisner mags that are stamped "S" on the bottom and made from the original tooling.

As far as I know the 1922 used the early 1919 NRA magazine. Don't know that any were marked 1922. They would not have shipped with the later ones marked 23A although it would work fine.

Thanks all.... I'll try the Brownells first since they're cheaper, and then if those don't work, I'll try Numrich. I'll plug Dick Williams Gun Shop here since they were extremely helpful with returning the aforementioned magazines, and had great customer service. Now I guess the next question is how about front sight inserts??? I've been told that I have a Lyman 17 from some kind folks over at rimfire central. But looking through the post here, it looks like a Savage model 25. Does anyone stock different inserts, or can I use some from another model front sight without too much modification. The front post insert I have is too difficult to get a good sight picture with my eyes.

If you were at rimfire central then the guy above you was probably the guy you were talking to there.
