What is the concensus? $375 a decent price for a 4" 66 with Hogue rubber monogrips? (I know prices are generally lower in the US, but this is priced this low, as relatively few Canadians are grandfathered and allowed to own a 4" or less.)

That's a good buy if the revolver is in nice condition. Prices for the older 'Smiths have been on the rise and a 4" 66 is a desirable setup.

Double check the forcing cone if get your hands on it. Most anything else is cheap to fix. It's almost impossible to get beat on a Model 66 at that price.

Borderline excellent price if it's in great shape. If it's not, it's still a pretty good price on anything above a beater.

I think that it is a fair price. I paid $300 for this one last February; no tax, private sale. It was former PD issue, so it had some ID info etched on the frame but it isn't as noticable as this picture shows in this phone pic.

Very nice shape. I'd have to say it wasn't shot much. Anyways, it's mine now. I'll have to pick it up in the next week or two. Not sure why I need three 357s (2.5" 19, 4" 66, 6" 587), but an itch has been scratched.
Had to laugh, someone said I had to start avoiding making eye contact with these guns!

AB2506: I would say that $375.00 is a fair price if in very good condition. I have Hogue grips on a couple of my 66's and like them very much. These grips are conducive to better shooting, for me, anyway. Having said that if you ever get the hankering to replace the Hogue grips with the original S&W wood grips I have recently found out that is an EXPENSIVE endeavor to undertake. I have Model 66's in 2", 4" and 6" versions - I by far prefer the 6"ers for my Varminting, woods loafing and range work (fun). I am in the dark about the issue I am about to bring up - are Candian folks allowed to conceal and carry their pistols with a permit? I used to carry my 4" Model 66 concealed when doing work assignments for a robbery suppression and body guarding company, and it was about the maximum size pistol I could conceal on my body. This company eventually standardized and went to all Glocks in 40 S&W caliber so I haven't carried mine for some time now. If you are going to carry concealed it is still doable with that 4" Model 66 without being to obvious about it. I say go for it and good luck. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

VG,
Virtually no one can carry, except to an approved range. Handgun must be unloaded, in a locked box, ammo in second box. Directly to and from range to home. Persons who can get a carry permit are judges, trappers, prospectors and forestors. It ain't easy to get a permit.

My wife would add "...making eye contact with ANY gun." But, she latched on to my 66, now I'm looking for another - love to get one for your price.
