Fine young men. Congratulations to all...

Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.

The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.

Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.

Those sort of pictures sure make you feel good don't they. I had some most like them way long years ago with my boys.
One still a rifle hunter and the other turned into a shotguner though both still hunt and shoot a lot.

Forgot to add this one. This was prolly the highlight of the year. My 9 yo rolled this cow up running full out from lt to right at 150 yds with a 264 win mag. We snuck on the herd for 2 hours. We just set up to shoot and they busted us. I didnt even tell him to shoot, he just did it.

He watched me dump a wounded mule deer the week before for my nephew that was getting away that was running off. Guess he thought he would try it.

Great memories for all of you! I love flipping through all of the old hunting photos from my youth and one day your boys will enjoy doing the same. Good on you for being a "hands-on" kind of dad.....

I imagine most of the wildlife in your part of Texas and New Mexico are going into deep hiding. I'm sure the word is out that nothing is safe now that the Truby boyz are on the job. smile

My 9 yo is getting pretty handy at rolling up hogs on the run. Weekend before last he killed 3 that were running off and dropped all 3. He runs his new 264 pretty good. He finally got big enough to shoot it. My dad got it built for him when he was born, and he just got long armed enough to run it. And loves it.

I think we all could take a lesson from Toby. When I see pictures like that it makes me feel good to see the hunting tradition being passed down, and we should all do our part as well in making the effort to take a youngster hunting with us.

This last year I was given the opportunity to take my Grandson on his first hunt, his Dad just started a new job and wasn't able to take him so he asked me if I would, and I smiled ear to ear and said do you really have to ask. Just being polite dad is all he could say.
Kids with firearms or fishing poles in hand is what it all about to me, passing down the the thrill of the hunt is being lost to PS2's and Xbox's and that's truly sad.
Thanks Toby for sharing and to all of the rest of you for taking or making time to pass down this sporting tradition of ours.

Shipster
