Got the new turret installed on VX3, shot fine for about a month, now can't get the damn thing to shoot less than 10"! Anyone else had similar problems?

No but a return trip to Oregon would be in order. Blew the guts out of a 3.5-10 but it took 7mm stw, 338 win mag, 340 bee, 375 JRS to do it and a lot of rounds.

What power is your Leupold?

I don't trust Loopy's on hard use or heavy kicking rifles. Some here have had great luck, but I have personally seen three of them come loose in the middle of a clients hunting trip, costing them game animals. Sure, the scope was fixed, but the Bull Elk, Bear and Eland that were missed and turned out to be the scope doing exactly what you are describing here.... not going to use them on anything bigger than my 257WBY which does not kick much nor does it come with me on expensive trips out of the country or to Alaska.

What do you recommend then re: scope choice for heavier recoiling rounds? (curious here)..

I had a new in box 3.5-10x CDS come loose on me after 10 shots on my Model 7 KS .350 mag. Leupold sent me another scope quick. So far so good, but a little concerned about the new one.

Guessing your issue had nothing to do with the turret install. just one of those things that happens.

I had a Vari-x III 3.5-10 go teats up on a Rem 700 300 Ultramag, the image went all blurry. The recoil of that thing was vicious with 200 gr bullets at 3200 fps. Leupold fixed it in a jiffy. I've since sold the rifle since I like my retinas right where they are. grin

RN,
I know Mark likes Burris. At least that's what he had on his 416 Rigby when he was kind enough to let me squeeze a few rounds off.

Not sure which model however?

I'm sure he'll be 'round shortly.

Yep, I should have have said that is what happened to mine. I could not focus it any more.

After I bitched, Leupold said they would send me another one at the price I paid for mine next day. When they got mine back, they would credit my card. I was a little pissed at first, but I calmed down and they took care of me. I had a new scope in my hands in a couple of days, and they even took care of postage mailing the broken scope back to them. I had a new scope back on the .350 within days of it going belly up. It happened on a Monday, and I was hunting on Friday with the new scope No complaints here. I am buying another one for my son's rifle soon. Stuff breaks, stuff gets fixed. Folks say you should not have to use their customer service if they made good scopes. That makes no sense to me.

I love my Leupolds and have used them on light kickers for years. Than said, I yield to your experience on the matter and ask "What would you recommend?"

I think they are as good as anything on the hard kickers. At least they have enough eye relief. I have yet to break one due to recoil. Mine have always done something silly or else broke on a low recoil rifle.

I put 3000 rounds through a 7# 300 Wby with a 2-7 Fullfield I. It is still going strong on a 708 after another 3000 rounds. It was just a good scope. I upgraded to a Leupold on the 300 as I wanted more eye relief.

I have had my share of trouble with them but I can't think of anything tougher.

If the optic has died to the point it will shift POI 10 inches at 100yds you would be able to hear things rattling in the tube.

Would you be willing to let me test it on a different rifle of known performance?

It must be, but I think yours is too! You can leave Jetts alone though.
