JB, why is it that Aliant RL15 is noted for being stable in varying temps, but some of the others are not....this strikes me as peculiar and I would think Aliant would want to eliminate stability as a problem in the rest of the line as well.Otherwise they seem to me to be very good.....

Bob, JB has actually addressed this before. I remembered reading his statements on it. Alliant was bidding to get RL-15 accepted as a military powder and the military wasn't happy with it's temp. sensitivity. So they went back and re-vamped it. Found it here: https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth..._Reloader_15_temp_sensitivit#Post3626654

I use H1000 with my favorite load of 160 grain TSX.
The topic of temperature sensitivity has been raised again in this thread. What brands of powder or specific powders are considered to be the best with regards to temperature sensitivity? Which are the worst? Are the changes so great that they would significantly alter the performance of hunting ammunition that would be used in temperatures ranging from about 10F to 90F? Would a cold round put into a hot chamber heat up enough in a minute or two to affect the performance of the ammo? I have never worried much about the temperature affecting ammo and am wondering whether I should start.

In a way these 7 mag threads are a lot like the "which powder in a .223",as with the powder and results posted It is not very hard to get a 7 mag to shoot under an inch, I have tried them all and have come down to what is the least temp sensitive, at least when its in the below zero to 20 above range, H1000 is very accurate but I really have to step on the load to get fps, the RL19, 22 and 25 are very fast and accurate, but I guess I have read into to much temp flex, so it goes, but more than anything this is just a big plus for the 7 Rem. mag I reckon, so Retumbo is my go to powder for now.

Mule Deer, I saw you didn't mention IMR7828 as a powder for the 7RM. Is there a reason for that?

Just to throw it in the mix, I had several pounds of H450 on hand that had not shot accurately in anything I had tried, so I loaded up some in a donor 7mm Rem Mag. First load tried with 140 gr BT's shoots half inch or better if I do my part. Needless to say, it didn't become a donor.

I shoot 180gr and 168gr Berger VLD.
180gr is backed by Retumbo @ 66.2gr at 2850 fps. Realy good out to 1000 yards.
168gr is also backed by Retumbo @ 71.3gr at 3075 fps.
Both the loads will lay game flat.
Well that is mt $.02..

I currently own 3 7RMs and load for others as well. R22 is hands down the most consistent powder for me in the 7RMs.
H4831 is another good one with the 140s, but lacks on the 160s for speed. IMR7828 works well with 150s and 160s.
Good Luck,
loder

Thanks to everyone for all the replies. It looks like the top candidates are IMR7828, RL22, RL25, Retumbo, and H1000. 7828 and RL22 got the most responses, so I'll probably try those first and see where I end up. I've always wanted to try H1000 in some of my other cartridges/rifles, so I might give that a look see as well.

Anyone tried W780 in the 7mm Rem Mag ? With a burning rate similiar to RE22 and H1000 it should be ideal !

No, but if you look at Hodgdon's data for the 7mm RM it usually is the one of the top if not the top velocity powder for the middle to heavier weight bullets.

The only powder I've ever used for the 7 mm Mag is H-4831. It provodes good accuracy, so I never had the urge to test any other powder. 63.5 gns of the H-4831, with 150 gn Partitions and Fed 210M primers. I haven't tested this load with Mag primers, and I have no ignition problems during November Deer season up here. The above load delivers 3 shot, 1/2" groups at 100 yards with the adjustable scope set at 12x, so I have no reason to try Mag primers.

Did you ever come up with a preference between the 7828 and RL22 for your 150 ad 160 grs? Im looking to load something similar, and wasnt real thrilled with H4831.

With the 7 Rem Mag there are lots of accurate loads but you need to chrono them to have a accurate and a load that matches published data. I get best accuracy and velocity with the old H870 with 160 -175 gr bullets in my Ruger 77.

RL22, H1000, and IMR4831 have worked well for me. RL19 gave excellent accuracy with 140's but never chronoed them.
