Just curious! Rank order the top three companies which manufacture the most accurate rifles right out of the box. I love cloverleafs. What has been your experience?
God, grant me the senility to forget the guns I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to know the difference.

Both good and bad seem to sneak up out of all the various manufactures. I'd say it is more luck of the draw.

TrapperTom, The replies to your other "most accurate" thread apply here as well. As I said there, Every maker turns out some incredibly accurate factory rifles, and within a few serial numbers either way, turns out some dogs as well. Regardless of caliber or the cartridge for which the rifle is chambered.
Same goes for the semi-custom makers, like Kimber or NULA.
Custom shops, like Sisk, or Garrett, or Mickey Coleman, can turn just about any rifle or action, or cartridge chambering, into a tack driver - often capable of far better accuracy AND precision (there is a difference and a symbiotic relationship to rifle shooting) than the vast majority of shooters.
So, you question either needs some serious clarification or will remain unanswerable.

The Remchester MK II FinnSav with Boss has to be # 1! No question about it.

I can't really rank anything that way but I can share my experience with you:
All the win model 70's i have owned were awesome 2 new and one used, 300WM, 338 WM and 270WSM. Most would call it stupid luck, so take it for what its worth. The ranking of the rifles I can remember are:
1. Win model 70 2. Kimber 84m 3. Sako 4. Rem 600 5. Rem 700 6. Weatherby mark V
The Kimber is still somewhat of an unknown....but so far I have been impressed. It has never grouped as tight as the 300WM (the most accurate tack driver I have ever shot -Only sold it cuz that dang BOSS made it too loud to be healthy). But, I never had unrealistic expectations for the Kimber either because it's so light. I think its going to be an excellent game rifle, which is really what matters to me in the end. If I can put a bullet in a pie plate consistently at 350 yards, thats all I need. The kimber has done better than that so far. What is strange is that my 100 yard groups dont really translate into that kind of accuracy. They are alright, but not the best I have done....but that could be me, not the gun. But the 200-300+ groups are just what i need. I have shot maybe 30 rounds through it so far. After dialing it close to center at 100yds, I then started load testing it with factory loads to see what it shot best. It likes Hornady light Mags 139 Gr Sp's. Then I raised it to 3" high at 100yds and shot 2 bullets at 1.5" then the 3rd bullet touched the same hole as the first. That was pretty good. But, I have not been able to repeat that again. I averaged the groups a few day ago and they come out to about 1.78" (8- 3 shot groups) certainly not tack driving. When load testing, I was very disappointed with its performance with federal vitalshok 140gr nosler partitions (as I like those rounds). Rem corlokts were a bit better...but not much. The hornady's were by far the best of those 3. Next, I want to try Winchester Failsafes, Winchester BST, Federal Accubonds and Rem corlokt ultras. I just bought a reloading press off ebay for $11.00 (its an older CH tool & die) and want to get started reloading ASAP. But its going to take me some time to get started. I still have to buy all the stuff to go with the press as well as books and videos. And, the wife is just about had enough of my buying 'hunting Supplies" for a while. Plus, she's not happy this time of year anyway because I'm always taking off on the weekends with my bro's to go on the blast as we call it.

Ruger Varminters in 22-250. Never seen one that wouldn't shoot .5's or better. Some will even do that with cheap Remington factory ammo.
For out of the box larger calibers for me it has been the Weatherby Mark V. My skinny barreled 300 has turned in a 5 shot group at .291".

ask 100 people this question, and you'll likely get 100 different answers ... That being said, it's hard to argue against Remington 700's when they are the most commonly used factory rifles and actions for "sniper" type applications ... But what do I know?

And just how does Hubert measure group size? I measure from extreme outside edge to outside edge minus caliber or in this case .308. Here is a picture of 3 shot group with Partitions as fired from the window of my van. This one goes .261" It is signed by two witnesses that saw me do it.

What has been your experience? If I may Ill divide my experience into 3 parts: Part One is from volunteering at the public sight-in days for many years at the two ranges to which I belong. This scenario is heavily weighted (though not always so!) to relatively uninformed hunters/shooters, many beginners, who go to a large box store and buy a new rifle/scope package based on any number of reasons from price to salesman recommendation to suggestion from an acquaintance towhatever. Typically the rifles are toward the lower to middle end of the production category with commensurate scopes/mounts and firing factory ammo. Under this scenario my observations match Mark Ds exactly: Savage Tikka Remington Part Two is the club members who are more into the shooting sports and tend to purchase more toward the higher end, whether from semi-custom manufacturers or from the more pricey specialized product lines of the mainstream companies. Better optics are the norm, and handloads are used almost to exclusion. In this case Id say: Cooper, and by a pretty good margin. Remington H-S Precision Finally, though not exactly to the letter of the question, but still in the spirit is Part three where the rifles while not out of the box are still factory enough to qualify for most competitive factory rifle classes in competition but have minor, low cost tweaks bedding, trigger work, crown cleaned up, lug engagement squared, etc. Same as in Part Two as far as optics and handloads, but the shooters themselves are generally the most experienced and the ancillaries such as bags/rests etc tend towards the best. In this case: Remington Cooper Winchester Ranking the three as a whole Id say that obviously the second and third parts tend to vastly smaller group size than the first, but in all honesty on a given day some of the totally untweaked rifles from part two, and particularly Coopers are as good as the best from the tweaked factory class competition arms. Just my observations

From my reading, not from my experience, Savage would get top vote for out of the box accuracy. CZ would be high, and that's out of my experiences. Ruger 77's are equal to CZ's out of my experiences. Can't comment on any othe make of factory rifles, as the rest of mine are built with aftermarket barrels, etc. George.. Can't tell for sure??? Don
