Where is the local meat freezers or butchers in the area of Vail to Wolcott Colorado?
I would like to butcher my own game and then put it in a freezer until returning home.

I noticed that in AK, locals loaded small/med electric freezers in the back of their pickup trucks for hunting and salmon. Some trips it works, and some it won't. Just a thought. Good luck.

nclh,
If you Google "deer processor Vail Colorado", or some variation there of, you will get several hits for processors. I phoned a guy out of Gypsum, I think, last year and he was willing to process, wrap and freeze on short notice during 2nd rifle.
Ended up being cold enough for us that we did not need to go that route.

There are none.
I work in Vail. The closest guy is Gypsum. What season are you hunting?

Sept. bow hunt, which has been crazy hot the last couple years. No way would an elk keep for long. Dry ice is an option.
Fresh meat can be frozen in large sizes then later thawed and processed as wanted. Once or twice at the most should fresh meat be thawed and frozen again. Even the thawing is just enough to cut and grind it, still very cold.
I will search for Vail processing...Thanks

Handwerk has a valid suggestion. I used to go up to 5 days on ice in a cooler, keeping it well drained, with no issues. Gypsum is pretty darn close though as well. Guess if you get one early in trip, head to Gypsum, if late I'd ice it and head for NC.
