And you know this how?

USN SEALS use the HK Mk24 (Hk45C with Crimson trace IR laser and threaded barrel), the Sig P226, and the HK MP7 PDW. Some teams are said to still use the HK Mk23 as well.

US Army Delta use Glock 22 .40 cals, and the US Army rangers use Glock 19s as well as Beretta M9s and Sig P228s (M11). Most other Elite US Army units just use the issued M9s or M11s.

No idea what the Marines or USAF use.

It is amusing that people speak in absolutes about who is carrying what, when they have never spent a single day working with a member of one of the units.

I wanna know what the MAFIA carries.

Its my understanding that the elite SOF units have a tremendous arsenal at their disposal and tailor the guns to meet the parameters of the mission at hand.


I don't think there is a specific standard issue elite forces handgun.

Yes, 25yrs ago. Today, only a few USMC units are issued Quantico built 1911's and their armorer is one overworked mofo when they get on a range and really shoot them. This ain't a rumor I read on the net.

FWIW, my BIL is an ex-Navy Seal & now works for DOD in a security function.

He is carrying a S&W M&P 40 cal.

This outfit whom we linked up with and I was playing the role of trunk monkey for, were wearing a G17s. These are some of the "elites" that are absolutely carrying something else.



We were making a run up to a FOB for a quick qual:



Here is a pic from inside an armory downrange of some dudes who are absolutely carrying something else to according to "duh internets".



The problem is that something else ended up being a whole bunch of little black G19s.

Correct, the Seals carry a Sig 9mm. I just read Chris Kyle's book, American Sniper. He carried a .45 Springfield TRP a good bit of the time.
