That my good friend is not just a normal Lyman 57SA, but it is a very early one. If some one is looking for one for an uncheckered EG (or early checkered), a 99H, 99G, 99K, 99R or any of the other 30's vintage savages you want either this style of Lyman 57 SA or pay even more for a Lyman 56.
Yeah price is high, but there were a couple of bidders that just had to have it!

I was going to say, my 57SA I've got on the desk here has a rounded top knob as opposed to that turret. Happy seller for sure.

Blair, that one isn't that early.
A real early 57 would have a clip on indicator.
I've got one here for a Savage rimfire,(Lyman 57 MS) with the clip on indicator, just need a Lyman slide to complete it.
Bet you Tom is sitting at home right now with a wide grin on his face after what that one sold for.

I know that Stroebel's book mentions the clip on up to 1950 on the 57, but I have never seen a clip on indiciator on a 57SA. I have this sight and it is on a 1940 EG and I would bet money that this sight has been on the rifle since new. Until I see a 57SA with a clip on yardage slide I will wonder if they exist.

I recently tripped over a mint 56 for $100.
Couldn't believe my luck.
Anybody know the range of years they were produced by Lyman?

Holy smokes.
I have three of these. Never thought them being worth that. Well, I guess it doesnt matter because I am not selling them anyways.

I have a few of them on rifles, but that price is "UNREAL" they look like they would bend pretty easily if someone dropped a rifle by accident. Don

Maddog I have a savage 4C with a 57 MS, but I do not know what the clip indicator is on the slide. Do you have a picture to explain or I'll have to sweet talk the boss to post a picture of mine when she gets home (still the village idiot of Teeterville lol)
