I grew up around people wearing them. My grandfather in Scotland never went anywhere without his (or a pocketful of sweeties).
Here in Boston, what with the large Irish population, they're still popular. Lots of guys I grew up with wore them. My brother wore one for years.
I think they're cool, and not age-specific, but you either look good in one, or you don't. I don't, so I don't wear one.
Edit: BTW, in these parts, they're known as a 'scully' or 'scally' cap or hat.

Well we're Green and we're Gold, and we play better when it's cold. All us Cheese heads have our favorite superstar. We love Brett Favre.

Used to wear one when a teenager, though it was okay. I'm almost willing to bet that it was in a Plad Print and it was in the middle to late fifties. I had one when I was still in High School.

It's not an age thing. It's an image thing. I've always thought those caps looked great... accompanied by a tweed jacket, Wellington boots, breeches, a brier pipe and a monocle.

Being Irish myself, that hat provides a basis for being a gentleman. You can turn and ask, "Excuse me, miss, will you hold my hat?" right before the fight breaks out.

I know an 18 year old who sports one all the time. He also does pretty well with the ladies, despite his taste in headgear !

At least they're not wearing it sideways.
Not my taste in hats, but is someone else likes 'em that's their choice.

Ask derby dude, Wouldn't catch me dead in one. Nor me. I heard my Dad call that a co#k$ukker hat once when I was young. When I asked him what he was talking about he replied, "I don't know what ya' really call 'em, but Earl (our curmudgeonly neighbor) always wears a hat like that and he's a real co#k$ukker". Kinda stuck in my head ever since. When I was a youngster in Trevorton, Pa. , there was a man named Donovan about 6'6" that looked like something out of the 1930's and he wore a "Snap Cap" as he called it. I don't think many would have told him different.

My son and I out at the apple orchard this year. I am in my 40's. My wife likes that hat, so what some random dudes on the internet thinks really doesn't matter a whole lot to me.
