I heard my Dad call that a co#k$ukker hat once when I was young.
I've never heard them called anything else. I don't know how it happened but that quote attributed to me in your post is definitely not something I originally posted. No biggie, though.

"EVERYBODY" wore a Big Cowboy Hat ... 'cept me.
