shot a awsome eight point on a ranch hunt in mich....bang flop.... cant say enough about this bullet, shooting a 7rum this is my 3 whitetail and 2 mule deer, all bang flop... great groups on paper and awsome performance on game... have only found one bullet so far all have pass through hope ever one else is as happy with them as i am..now how to post pic?
I am thinking of loading some 160's for my 7mm mag. I hope they perform as good in my gun as they do in your 7mm RUM. I bit of a powder difference and some other small changes, but I still hope I get the same results.
What do you think about the accubonds for elk?
Great buck you took also. What part of Mich were you at?
Congrats on your trophy, Enrique

I am loading 160gr Accubonds in my 7mm Weatherby Mag for my elk hunt starting this weekend. They shoot nice small groups. Hopefully I'll post a report on the terminal effects on Elk and deer soon.

For sure keep me posted on how it performs on the elk hunt. BTW, where are you hunting at for elk?
What kind of trajectory, velocity and groups are you getting with the 160's? Again I know my gun will be different it is just a Rem Mag and not as powder full as the weatherby or RUM, but I am still curious. My 7 mag will be used for Coues to Elk, (mostly coues and mule deer) and I hope I can accomplish that with a 160 Accubond as my all around.
has anyone tried the accubond out to say 300 to 500 yards?

I've used the 160 Accubond in my 7mmRUM to take several Mule Deer and they were pretty much the same story. This year's deer came at 185 yards and the bullet exited the off side. I'm great fan of both caliber and bullet. Considering the accuracy and penetration offered, the 160 Accubond may just be THE bullet for long range work with the 7mm Ultra.
I don't have a cronograph so I don't know how fast they are going. From the published (Speer and IMR) loads I figure they are traveling about 3,000 fps.
I routinely get 1.5 inch groups and shot one 3 shot group that was well under 1". If I am lucky enough to shoot at an elk next week I'll post the results. I'll be hunting in NW Colorado in GMU 12 in the 2nd rifle season near the Flat Tops Wilderness.

Congratulations on a nice buck. Looks like a Ledgends buck, which is about 45 min. from my house. What weight AB are you using in yur 7mmRUM? I am going to use the 160 gr AB in my 280 AI this year. It is a fantastic bullet, I am getting groups in the .2's and recovered bullets from 1 gal water jugs are impressive.
7mmfan, Those are some long brow tines on that nice buck.
I had an Accubond failure this past Friday on a rifle cow elk hunt- the bullet failed to stop and failed to be recovered. Shot the cow broadside behind the shoulders at 150 yards and she went 30 yards without her breathing apparatus. 180 grainer from a 300WSM.
I just finished working up a load of 160's for my 7 rem mag. 62 grains of 4831IMR. My gun hates and shoots all over the place federal premium 150's but with the 160's, I shoot quarter sized groups @ 100 yds. I zero 3.1 inches high @ 100. I made two shots saturday at the target. 200 yards hit zero line at 1/2 inch to the right and 300 hit zero line @ 1 inch to right. Problem is which one was a lucky shot? I should have been 4.5" high @ 200. But I think it will draw blood sufficiently to make a bang flop.
I have admitted many times to being a long-term Partition fan, having used them with huge success for 40+ years. But the last couple of years I have been trying the Accubond in 2-3 different chamberings, and They are rapidly finding a spot in my prime bullet choices. Shot a nice young Bull moose at 260 yards with my Remington 700 Classic in 8x57 a few days ago. The bullet? 200 Accubond. The moose collapsed instantly and did not regain his feet. Earlier did in a nice Black Bear with the same combo. Last fall, a Black Bear and a Nice muley buck with the 280 Remington and the 140 Accubond. All my Accubond kills so far have been bang-flops. Pretty impressive! Only one recovered bullet so far. 140 ended up at 112.5 grains. I'll be updating as I continue to use these. Regards, Eagleye.

My daughter and i harvested our first deer last week with the accubond and my Rem Classic 25.06. The buck was quartered toward me at about 125yds. The bullet entered the front shoulder and exited about 4" behind the opposite shoulder, needless to say he fell in the scope when i pulled the trigger. The entrance hole was about the size of a pencil and the exit hole about the size of a dime. When i pulled down the hide the internal damage was awesome. It's my first deer with the accubond but with performance and results like that and with the accuracy i'm getting from the accubond and my rifles it has quickly become my favorite bullet. Here's our deer.
The Muy Grande (ranch?) is 1500 acres of high fenced land in upper Michigan. Hunts are guaranteed from heated blinds with shooting at fenced in deer bred to be big and expensive.
The more you pay, the bigger the deer. Anyone with the money can have one like this or even bigger.
This one looks like the $4,500.00 variety. Imagine what you get for the $15,500.00 hunt!? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
I don't know much about much but this article I read is pretty cool. It covers the accubond and other bullets in .308. The medium he shot into shows the wound channel.
My oldest son heart shot a 4 yr old cow elk at 242 yds with his 270 WSM/140 accubond. Bullet broke the opposite shoulder, and did everything you'd want. I was pleasantly surprised with the results.
One instance means nothing, except that it's worth looking at more.
