Having fun with my Christmas-Present '73, .44-40, built in 1892.
Looks great, etc., but I noticed it did not have a ramp at the rear buckhorn. I cannot tell for sure if the rear is original, but it showed no evidence of having a ramp in a long, long time. No marks etc.
When I shot it, it shoots about 6 1/2" high at 25 yards. Now I am suspicious that either the rear buckhorn is a replacement with the notch too high, or the front bead is a replacement which is too low. The rear is the "long" style.
Does anyone have any close-up sight photos of their '73, front and rear, so that I may compare? This rifle appears to be totally "off the shelf", that is not a custom order back in 1892.
