Anyone recommend a Browning only forum, also a good source of magazines?
Got a Belgium model and it looks great!

My son's first handgun was a made-in-Belgium Hi-Power and it is the only handgun he owns that isn't for sale. I think you'll like your HP. A lot.

Mr. Camp sadly passed away last year. A good place for HP followers is at 1911 Forum:

Sir,

Im a bit of a Hi Power afficinado and if you ever have any questions, please feel free to ask. Heres an article I wrote on some of the more esoteric aspects or issues with the Hi Power: http://shootersjournal.net/random-thoughts-on-the-browning-hi-power/

Please understand that while I write about known issues with the Hi Power, I still consider it the best 9mm out there (as in, best for me). Every handgun will have its issues, so dont be discouraged at what I write. However, if you intend to use it for defense, it would behoove you to read my piece.

I gotta say that back during my days as an LEO, the HP was the best regarded 9mm out there. I knew lots of guys that ran hot ammo through theirs and never had a problem. They used to break the old Smith M39's all of the time with the same ammo.
Mine was every bit as accurate as my Colt Gold cup. With the right handloads, it would put five into an inch at 25 yds. That load was the 90 gr. Sierra Hollow Cavity bullet over 6-7 grs. of Unique powder. Other ammo, not so good. Sometimes as "bad" as 3.5 inches for five at 25 yds. BTW, that wasn't with the factory, hard to see, sights.
It's still pains me that I sold that gun..... E

Stick with the 15 rnd Mec-Gar mags, they fit flush and will give you no problems. I know you didn't ask but the usual mods that I consider almost a must is to remove the mag saftey and install a C&S extended saftey lever. (not ambi).

I regret selling most of my guns. But the HiPower most of all.
I've never had gun with it's fit and finish. Before or since.
And doubt I ever will unless I dive back in or get a custom piece.

The bluing looked about 2 inches deep and the wood to gun fit, flawless!
After Browning did a trigger job for me ( gratis ) it was a perfect piece that tripled in price after the DM was floated.
The ONLY gun I sold that I made money on...

Also regret selling a Silver & Chrome model Browning Hi-Power,40 Cal.

But I did replace it later with a Fabrique Nationale (Belgium) Hi-Power, 40 Caliber - with the deep bluing and dark walnut grips that CDNN sold for $399. I (think) I like this one better.

I just enjoy owning my Hi-Power, as much as I do shooting it.
