I thought I'd post a picture of a buck an aquaintance of mine took on the last day of the season. The kicker was, he wasn't even hunting. He was getting ready for work when he saw this bruiser way back in his pasture. Took a long shot and missed (or so he thought). Then a few minutes later the neighbor called and said "you gotta come down and see this deer you just shot. He's a monster" Green scored 175 from what I heard.

Story sounds hokey to me, but it is a dang nice buck. I know if I shot at one like that I would be Johnny on the spot looking for blood and sign until satisfied I had missed or done my best to follow up the shot. Magnum Man

Nice buck. Isn't it funny how most of the big ones just happen, regardless of a hunter's experience or savvy or knowledge? The records books are riddled with happenstance stories such as that. Congratulations to your friend.

That is indeed a dandy!!

175" is, well, a stretch. But the score shouldn't dismiss the fact that it's a fine specimen.

While I don't want to discredit the accomplishment and the glory of that deer, you can lump me into the crowd that thinks that deer is a bit shy of 175". I honestly believe they used the "fish-eye" camera shot to help enhance the antler-to-human ratio.

Hell of a buck. Damn sorry not to follow up on ANY shot you take though.. that part just makes me sick to think that some folks are that ignorant.

Nice buck. Don't jump on the guy to fast....for all we know he was about to go look when his neighbor called....we don't know one way or the other but we're sure quick to call him a slob, worthless, etc...

Don't know if it is real or not. It is possible that when he shot it, that he took the time to possibly get out of his work clothes and put on clothes to go see if he hit the deer. Again, I don't know if this is legit or not, but the clothing thing could be very easily explained IMO.
