Alright guys, I need the skinny on the Sig 516. Ive read both good and bad, but here lately I've been hearing more good things. I realize that all rifles from every manufacturer have problems from time to time. I would like to hear about some real world experience with this rifle. I've also heard that Sig USA's customer service sucks....just wondering if anyone has any personal experience with that as well. I already have a few DI guns, and I want to get into the piston game. I like the LWRC's, but I'm not going to pay that much....period. The Sig is in my price range, and I like the looks of it better than most AR's. I am however a little concerned over the fact that Sig can offer a piston gun for such a good price. Is the Sig just another me too piston gun, or is it a good quality piece?

I've never heard anything bad about any Sig product but I really question the need for a piston AR. This has been studied to death by DOD and they never adopted the damn thing for a reason.

Got a retired Marine here, now a state trooper, that has 2 or 3 sigs, loves em, says likes em more than his M16s when in the Corps.
When I ask what they do different, he says cleaner and reliable.
I ask how dirty did the 16 get and how often did it jam, he said, dunno, cleaned his 16 as often as the sigs and never had jams with the 16 either...
He was a top ranked competitive shooter for the Marines at one point too...
As to Ruger... still damn funny they wanted to agree with assault weapons bans in the 90s, but now want part of that market.... phug em still...
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

I hear the same excuses all the time but the piston guys have to go to FA, silenced SBR's before their argument bears merit.
That said I loved my Sig pistols and thought they were some of the best craftsmen out there, until they put their name on the Mosquito.
