Lets talk about something really relevant and discuss why the .308 Win is so much better than it's bastid child 7mm.08 grin...............Hb

Guy's will attest my 270,30-06,.280 (whichever it happens to be)is the best, everything I've shot didn't take a step! It has very little to do with the individual cartridge here and much more to do with where you hit the bastid and with what bullet, so get over this .270 vs 30-06 vs .280 chit! you are comparing apples to apples to apples here...........Hb

Holy Shidt! Finally! shocked A rational thought about rifle cartridges! grin

Anything off the 30-06 is GREAT.
This family of cartridges feel better in-hand, for me. Especially those early morning contouring around a mountain when the temp is minus- & my fingers are snap-frozen........ wink

30-06 is better than the .270 which isn't quite as good as the .280 which is surpassed by the .280AI which is about the same as a 7mm SAUM.

There I said it.

Both my sons are running them as their "one gun."

That makes a bunch of sense.

I love the .270Win. have three P-64 Fwts in it, just missed another two weeks back and have had many Winnies so chambered since 1968. I also ordered a "Jack O'Connor Custom Commemorative Rifle" when my dealer was at S.H.O.T. and that looks pretty neat.

I do wish that they had put the P-64 bolt handle on it, though and then it would really be a neat piece. I intend to hunt it if it gets to Vancouver before I hit 90..........

I sold a .280 because it never really excited me. But for some strange reason, the .270 is calling my name and I can't make it quit.

Put down your drink and step away from the bar!

The obvious void in your collection would be found above the .40 threshold, not in between some gap measured in scant parts of an inch. Think about a Sharps in .45-70, or maybe a .45-120-3-1/4. Great big hunks of lead hissin' down range, little brunettes that call you 'Roy' with a dreamy wisp in their voice... What are you thinking???? .270? Geesh.... At the very least you could be thinking .500 Nitro in an H&H double, or at least a .470 Nitro. C'mon buddy, buck it up a little!

Hindenburgs are more fun than ought to be legal. Here...the target is one mile down range:

I think the OP should PM Ingwe and ask him how his .270's are set up. Ingwe is the .270 expert............. eek

Maybe Ingwe is a closet JOC wannabe... laugh

He's got to pretend to not like .270's, or his cover gets blown... cool

That's what the buddy I sold my .280 featherweight to said. But then he's a 7mm nut so I question his judgement.

Nice try, but we're not buyin' it. We all know you have a safe chock full of 270s.

I appreciate all the help folks! I'll be ordering dies and brass soon......

I realized long ago that want and need didn't necessarily go together.
