I found a couple of "pairs" of zee rings at a gunshow and when I went to mount them, I checked alignment and it was way off. Of course I scratched my head and made a confused baboon face. I measured the thickness of the bottom and one set is different by .015" and the other by .030". Both sets are almost low rings. Has the actual height of low zee rings changed periodically? I have four rings and not one is the same.

Hopefully I understand what you are saying.

If you have two that are thinner and two that are thicker you could put the thickest one in the bottom of the rear ring. Then you put the thinnest one in the top of the rear ring and reverse this proceedure for the front rings. That is the thiner one that is left over goes in the bottom of the front ring.

This procedure will be like using a sloped base.

These are std zee rings. I believe you're referring to signature zee rings. I think I somehow found burris's version of the island for misfit toys.

one horn,

Forget lapping. Looks like you're in for some reaming.
