I had no idea Wisconsin draws so early. Our application period doesn't even start till April.

What zone did you apply for? I'm told that if you don't have at least 7 to 8j preference points, you won't get drawn. It's funny that this is the case, seeing as they revised the bear population to double the previous count a couple years ago.

I have 4 now and my dad has 10 this year both in zone B. I hope he gets one this year with his crossbow.

I had 12 the first time I was drawn.

Lots of Bears in B, too dam many!

It depends on which zone you put in for. in 2007 I drew with 7 points in zone A1. I'm now putting in for zone C which has a much shorter draw time.

Are you sure the results are already out? I just looked and all my information was the same as it was in Decemeber. Ussually the results aren't aout until the middle of February.

I just got off the phone with the DNR and they said they have not drawn bear permits yet and that they hope to within a couple weeks.

I drew last year with 8 points in zone A. I also heard the DNR was dropping the number of permits this year.

I'am glad I don't live in Wisconsin.
In Michigan I was drawn 4 times in 5 years, and 5 in the last 10. The wife 2 in the last 5 years.

In Wisconsin everybody has the same chance to draw a kill tag resident or nonresident.
In Michigan
Bear licenses are distributed to hunters using a preference point system. Drawing applicants with the most preference points are selected before those with
fewer points. Points are reset to zero upon selection; those not selected for a license receive a point for future drawings. No more than 2% of the available
licenses in each hunt period are awarded to nonresident applicants. Points are reset to zero for applicants who do not apply for three consecutive years. For

Other than the limit on NR tags what you describe for MI is pretty much the same for WI. In WI those with the most points get the permits before those with fewer points and after 2 years of not applying they loose their points.

Which is a crock... I've seen more bears in Price Co. in 15 years than I've seen in all of MN in 35.

I can't believe there are that many bear tag applicants that a guy should have to wait for 6-9 years for a tag in high pop. bear area.

There is one more thing the INDIANS get 10% of the tags per the new treaty.
