Churches are prohibited from being political. They can and many do try to teach financial responsibility. If I were teaching that class it would include learning about the bad parts of taking government money.

However I find it interesting that I have not seen anyone bring up the socialistic side of Christ's teachings.

i dont care about churches to tell the truth in this manner
i dont give money to them out of my pocket
even if they do receive something of tax breaks or whatever from the goverment

i have a choice in a way about giving money to a church
i dont have much of a choice with my taxes and what is done with that
and nothing ticks me off to no end than people on welfare as a way of life
and that they get the right to vote also
they should not have a vote as a whole and should just be thankful for what the working people of this nation have to provide them not of their own choice
the democrats bread and butter base is welafarites who flock to them like flies to poop to vote for them to keep the way of life going

if this country didnt have welfare
the democrat party would cease to exist in this day and age

lbj,s social programs have succeeded in their hidden agaenda to create a block of the nations population that will vote soley for democrats to keep their freebie way of life going forever.....

done with the rant wink smile

If you consider concept of 48% of the country's population living on welfare as "chicken feed", then I suggest you take a refresher course in economics.

Try reading the law. Google is your friend. I did NOT say some do not do it anyway, I said it is against the law and they can loose their non profit status.

You guys are making me blush. Thank you kind lady for your words of encouragement.

But remember this for the time when we finally get to stand face to face, I am just a guy. My feet and farts stink just like every other guy. I cannot leap short doghouse in a multiple bounds, I can bend overcooled spaghetti on a good day and I am almost as fast is a spent 22 round. I ain't nobody special. grin

My wife teaches 9th grade social studies and she has one 14 year old girl in her class that is pregnant with her SECOND. When asked why, "We get mo' money for every baby."

That's understandable,...but in the grand scheme of things, the money spent on things like that is too tiny to see in comparison to what has been stolen from the people by the fatcat bankers.

I'd disagree with that. I'd estimate that over 50% of the people in my county are receiving multiple forms of public assistance from housing, medicaid, food stamps, earned income tax credit, etc. Multiply that times the number of people doing it and it comes out to a lot more money than the "fatcat bankers" have stolen. Of course the welfare scams are mostly legal, legalized by congress in their vote buying schemes.

Yep. It's only natural. Whatever you subsidize you will inevitably get more of. Subsidize unemployment and you get more of that too.

My mother used to work for a place called "birthright". They were a charitable organization that offered counseling to preganant women considering abortion {tried to talk them out of it} and help to poor mothers with young children or who were preganant. They gave them free clothing, diapers, formula, car seats, cribs, high chairs etc. etc... Most of the women they gave stuff to were late teens- mid twenties and repeat customers who came in over and over for more handouts. The vast majority were unwed, on welfare, medicaid, food stamps, wic and every other program available. The same ones also came in pregnant repeatedly over the years and most every pregnancy was by a different man, none of which they were ever married to. These women made their living off getting pregnant, having children and then bilking the unfortunate fathers {child support} and the welfare system for all they were worth. I guarantee you if you looked into it you'd find at least 75% of welfare recipients in this country are women who fit the above description to a "T", yet they're the huge pink elephant in the room that everyone seems to ignore.

blackheart, it's all part of the Master Plan of the Patriarchy to have everyone bow down to the gov't and it's proffered services.

males are for breeding purposes, and war fodder while the females are to raise new little people dependent upon the gov't. females without males in the household qualify for a handout. the gov't is thusly strengthened. males can roothog or die, or populate prisons. prison guards need a job too.

btw, ol eyeball has started an excellent thread. good on him!

Welfare spent 2 trillion in 2010, up 70% since Bush was elected. 20% of Americanos are on total govt care at a cost of $32,700 per while the average sucker, I mean working stiff brings home $32,400. I just find it strange that so many on the Fire are concerned about our national debit and yet are not concerned that their religious affiliation is not the least concerned. As a few other Fire members have voiced, we are headed for serious schist.

ReRead, I was tongue in cheek agreeing with what Bristoe said. Strange you took no concern about him saying it.

I am appalled that this has become acceptable in this country and may soon be considered the norm. However, it is not the churches job to comment on it. That said, if the Church in America was going it's job there should be no government welfare. If government was out of the welfare business and the church was doing what Christ taught then people would not be making a career out of welfare. They would be working or starving.

My oldest son has an ex wife who has taught her twin girls that welfare is a goal for life. One of my granddaughters from this marriage married a man who thinks an eighteen hour work week is to much as it gets in the way of other things he wants to do. One week he had to work twenty-one hours and they lost money on their food card. It turns my stomach. I feel like going to Idaho, looking him up and kicking him in the nuts so hard his feet leave the ground. When he wakes up I want to cut him a deal. Every Friday I would come back and look at his pay stub. If he worked forty hours and still needed a handout he got knocked on his ass. If he worked less than forty he gets another kick in the nuts. If nothing else he would not be fathering more kids until he worked full time.

Not how I was raised, not how any of my kids or the strays we raised, not how anyone should be raised.

Rant off.
