I proudly own a Remington model 14 in .30 Remington. I also have two boxes of ammo, which has dwindled after sighting-in. I know I can reload the brass using the Classic Lee Loader for .30-30, but I still just have 40 cases, and this rifle is fun to shoot. I am in Canada, so getting .30 REM brass isn't easy. BUT from what I've researched, the .30 REM is essentially .30-30 WIN but without a rim. One 'net loader said he just turned down the rim of the Win brass on a lathe until it was .30 REM spec. So I could get as much .30 Win brass as I want and put up lots of ammo.
Is this possible?

Just my two cents, so I may be wrong here, but I'd say possible-yes, easy or consistent-definately no. Like i said just my opinion though.

You might want to search through Midway and some of the other outfits for .30 Rem. brass. I forget which, but one of them has it for sale. You might also try RCBS' site as they handle some oddball brass as well. Paul B.

Buffalo Arms lists .30 Rem brass ($30/100) on their website, though this doesn't necessarily mean it's in stock.

I am in Canada. It is illegal for me to buy ammunition or components in the U.S. without an export permit. And US companies won't ship out of the U.S. either.
So, how does your answer change now?

G--man: a few years back i acq.a mdl 141 in 30 Remmie via internet auct.Included with the purchase was a plastic sack with 100 cases, worked down form WW 38/55 brass. I inquired as to his reasoning in using that ,but unfortunately the answer is buried in the fog back down the trail.. Darn sure works just fine, though.

So I guess my best bet is to ask the local gun store to order in some .30 REM brass.
And go to reloadbench.com if I want answers to questions.

Most of the older reloading manuals listed 30-30 and 30 remington data on the same page. I don't have anything showing case dimensions handy, but am wondering if you couldn't neck down 35 remington cases? I knew an old guy that shot the same rifle you have and fed his family lots of antelope, deer and elk, and blackbear, and took a lot of pride in showing off his grizzly rug.

Is factory loaded ammo scarce? Forgive my ignorance, I ask only b/c IIRC a local store has approx a half dozen boxes priced reasonably, similar to .30-30 ammo, if memory serves.

The rifle I packed was one of my brother in law's dad's rifles. It was a Model 94 I believe, and it had a long barrel on it. I used it for about 2 years, and then began shooting a Model 70 30-06.
I have a Model 8 Autoloader in 30 Remington, but I got that from my dad, and I dont shoot it.

I looked up the cartridge drawings and nope 35 won't work it's to thick in the web. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> Good news is Grafs lists 30 Rem brass from Remington in their catalog, so with a little luck you should be able to find a Canadian dealer/distributor that can get it for you.
