I was 6' 3" when I started my freshman year in high school. The coach saw me and I became his basketball star. That did not work well for me. I had an astigmatism and zero depth perception and I had just had a growth spurt that left me with almost no coordination. I literally could trip over a line on the court. That coach ended up hating e and I ended up hating basketball. To this day I would rather sit alone in a basement than watch a game.
That said, this was a great article. I am glad I read it and hope many more read it an are inspired by this young man.
Thanks for posting it.

..and you can bet he won't be frivolous with his salary. Good read, thanks. Damned near guarantee it. I don't like pro basketball at all. Jeremy Lin, however, is FUN to watch. I loved the recent interview when they asked him who his sports role model was. The typical response would have been Michael Jordan, or Magic, or John Stockton. Nope... Tim Tebow. Why? Because all the "experts" said he couldn't do it; ought not even get the chance. Given the chance, all he does is find a way to make his team better, believe in his team mates, do everything he can to win, and remain humble. Yeah, I can like this kid.

I like everything about J Lin. He has an increased following that rivals all.

Plus one, thanks for the link.
I haven't seen him play, just read about it. Neat story. All the best to Mr. Lin; he deserves it.
If he can keep it up a bit longer, his endorsements will soon dwarf whatever piss-ant contract they've got him playing under right now.
The CENTER will hold.

His "piss ant contract", now that he's starting for the Knicks, is for about $762k/year. His contract allows for an extension with the Knick up the league average ($5M/year), or for the Knicks to match any other offer (first refusal). http://espn.go.com/nba/team/roster/_/name/ny/new-york-knicks

I've been watching Lin Play. I started keeping up with the Knicks this year after they drafted UK center Josh Harrellson.
Lin is surprisingly athletic and has a very quick first step. He's also a shooter.
But most of all, he's *smart*. He understands exactly what a point guard's role is and he plays it like the pro he is.
It's fun to watch the defense collapse on him as he drives the middle, then see him rapidly kick it back out to the open man on the perimeter,..who knocks down a 3.
It's textbook,...and he does it with perfection.
