I am new to reloading and this site as well. I would like to have loads for the .250 Sav but most posts in other forums indicate the various twists best match certain bullet weights and performances. The rifle is #544xxx. Anyone know how to find out the twist? 14" 12" 10" Thanks

Any pre-1960 Savage in 250 will be a 1 in 14" twist. After 1960 they went to 1 in 10" twist.

Thank you and thank you. Ideas on the heaviest bullet to go with the 1 in 14" twist? 115? 110? 100?

Thank you and thank you. Ideas on the heaviest bullet to go with the 1 in 14" twist? 115? 110? 100? Start with 87 Gr Speers, they often work well in the 1/14.
Everything you now do is something you have chosen to do. Some people don't want to believe that. But if you're over age twenty-one, your life is what you're making of it. To change your life, you need to change your priorities.

I tried some 117 grain Hornady's I had on hand and they tumbled. Went back to 100gr and 87 gr. If I want a heavier bulllet l'll just use my 300.

It's actually the length that's important, not the weight. So either short 100gr or 87gr bullets should work fine.
The 87gr Speer Hot Core seems to be a popular choice. I've used it antelope hunting with great success, haven't had a shot at a deer yet with one tho.

I use 75gr HP either Sierra or Hornady in my 14" twist they work real will. 100grs would start to tumble about 40yds out.
