Quite a few people got a Kindle or an iPad for Christmas. I'm certainly not going to retire to a tropical island based on Kindle performance, but e-book sales are increasing.
Amazon reported that they sold 1 million Kindle readers per week for the month of December. That means iPads and Kindles are neck and neck. Regardless of which type of reader you use, e-books seem to be what the world wants. My opinion on this is that e-books will become the number one delivery method for fictional works. A greater number of people seem to prefer paper technical books however. No doubt that will change in short order.
In 2011, Amazon had approximately 900,000 e-books available for sale. Wowzers! They also reported that e-books outsold DTBs (Dead Tree Books) almost 2 to 1 in 2011. Who'd a thunk it?
My own experience in this new medium is encouraging. I put up my first Kindle e-book in Feb 2011 and, with zero advertising, sales have grown since September, 2011. It was pretty stagnant throughout the first half of the year.
I have no intention of abandoning paper books, but now, I have to look into converting all my books to e-format. I released three cartridge books on Kindle in 2011, but had taken out all the pictures because of the difficulty with photo rendering in this format. That has changed. Now I'll have to put the pix back in. I'll have to find a person or business that does this sort of thing.
Welcome to 2012.

Looking forward to The Accurate Lee Enfield becoming available on the Kindle. I was one of the ones who purchased Reloading the 303 this year. I really would prefer to have all my reloading manuals in the ebook format.

I'll have to check into how to get them converted.

Congratulations with keeping current Steve. I've quite enjoyed your books, and hope you can keep at it. Me, I prefer paper, but that's just because they work better for me in the reloading room.

Thanks Bob. The world seems to be changing more quickly. Either that, or I'm getting older.
