I am shooting a 23yr old XTI Legend bow and have no issues with it. I am looking one a little newer, maybe between 2005-2010. I shoot fingers and aluminum xx78 shafts 31" long. Any ideas? Would a newer bow be a little smoother drawing? I am not wanting to change anything else other than the bow. Thanks

If it ain't broke.... New bows are generally smoother and lots quieter. To shoot with fingers you will want a longer ATA than many bows have these days. Best rationale would be that it's always a good thing to have a backup. Archery Talk has many bows available from folks that would sooner get another bow than breath. Regards, Wiley

Hoyt Vantage LTD is the bow for you. Might be a tough bow to find used however. Not a lot of finger shooters these days. Also another good choice would be a Reflex Caribou. I shoot fingers and I love the Hoyt Vantage Ltd. I had a Caribou and hunted a lot with that bow. Might be a easier bow to find used.

My Brother wanted the same. I bought him a PSE Vendetta XL. You need a long bow to shoot fingers. The Vendetta had a Darton cam arrangement I shot on a Cyclone for 10 years and liked a lot. He loves the bow and shoots his Lincoln Logs just fine. I gave him a release that he's been using too and he likes to play with it. The Vendetta has sliding draw mods and you can get plenty of range out of it. Nice smooth drawing, reasonably fast, versatile bow.

Isn't the Vendetta 36" Axel to axel? Not what I would call a finger bow. Atleast you gave him a release to shoot.

My archery pro said it was one of 2 bows you could shoot with fingers. It was the longest bow in his shop. I shot it with fingers when I tried it out and my Bro is too. He has what he thinks is carpal tunnel and shoots about 10 rounds and then plays with the release, but he has vowed that he will not hunt with a release.

Well for what it is worth to you 36 AtoA bows are designed for release. What your "archery Pro" had in stock doesn't make it a finger bow. Shoot a true bow designed for shooting fingers and you will see what I mean right away. I shoot in RI often next time I make it there I could bring mine out so you can see just what I am talking about.

IMO sub 40" ata bows can be good finger bows provided ones draw length is around 28" or less or if you release with 2 fingers instead of three, otherwise a 40"+ ata would be a better choice.I shoot an Athens Exceed 37"ata at 28".I choose the Athens due to its butter smooth draw.Cant go wrong with a Hoyt for sure, also Martin Shadowcats,Mathews (Ovation,Conquest's,Rival Pros,Apexs),Bowtechs Constitution and Independance.I think Maitland and Newbreed have a 40"bow as well.

If you just want to get a newer bow go for it. Bowtech Constitution or Pro 40 are older bows that are both 40" ata. Way newer than what you have and I'm sure quieter. Don't think you pick up much speed and those Xi's were pretty fast.
