1.Last of the Mohegans (with DD Lewis)
2.Tombstone
3.The Best Years of Our Lives

This is an old black and white film from immediately after WW2. I think all of us veterans should watch it about once a year: on Memorial Day.

Gotta be Jaws. Just the first one, the rest are pretty lousy. Ravenous and the Outlaw Josey Whales probably round out the top 3.

Some I'd consider my top choices:

Lonesome Dove
Tombstone
Bogart movies
John Wayne movies
Charlie Chaplin movies

I usually appreciate the acting of Gene Hackman, Robert Duval, Val Kilmer, some Eastwood

True Grit

Saving Private Ryan

The Wind and the Lion

The Outlaw Josey Wales
High Plains Drifter
Smokey and the Bandit
Convoy
Dirty Mary Crazy Larry
True Grit
Rooster Cogburn

If it looks good, you'll see it
If it sounds good, you'll hear it
If it's marketed right, you'll buy it
But...If it's real, you'll feel it

GotAmmo: I am so glad your post reminded me of the movie I so absolutely and thoroughly enjoyed.
"Heat"!
I would add this movie to my all time favorites list and put it near the top of my now "Top Eleven" list.
What an incredible and incredibly well made movie.
After spending 29 years in LE in a large west coast metropolitan city I can relate to just about every character (good and bad), every scenario and every interaction of characters in that movie!
I think both Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro gave THE best performances of their careers in this wonderful movie - I literally get lost in it.
The scene where Pacino and DeNiros characters have "a talk" over coffee is just awe inspiring - acting at its absolute best.
I had the same talk with about two dozen criminals during my career - although my talks were not with classey criminals - they were with bikers, Black Panthers, SDS types, drug dealers, Cuban criminals, pimps and the like.
None of whom took my lame attempts at setting them straight to heart - and most all of them ended up in the "walls" (Walla Walla State Prison).
The main shoot out scene in "Heat" actually makes my crotch area sweat.
The movie is also directed without flaw - IMO.
Thanks again for reminding me of my oversight.

Holy cow! 6 pages of "favorite movies", including everything from Joe Dirt to Blazing Saddles, and nobody has said:
Raiders of the Lost Ark?

Wow.

And since nobody else seems to be stopping at just one either, add
the original Star Wars trilogy
Where Eagles Dare
The Jason Bourne trilogy
And no, they aren't movies, but LOST, Firefly, and the new Battlestar Gallactica series.
