There is two holes at both handle ends & this is where the cord gets put through to secure & wrap the handle. This knife is by no means a light weight hiker,or light duty knifre. It is not overweieght,though,and has a nice heft & feel to it.Full size comfortable handle,goods full size drop point blade. Very excellent grind,satin belt finish.Very heave duty.
