That's the challenge of iron sights. My eye sight sucks at my age. The older I get, the shorter the range I can shoot iron sights. Shorter distance means more challenge. More challenge. More fun.

Nobody will ever claim that a scope isn't more accurate, more effective, and easier, but is it more fun? Not for some of us. smile

I don't hunt all that much, but I do have rifles with iron sights and I'm starting to get pretty good with them.

That was a few years ago, when I first found out how accurate a quality peep could be. That is 100 yards just missing my one inch square.

This was a few days ago. (No, I didn't shoot the cat.)

I have one more of those cartridges and I just might try and hit it again tomorrow.

My best group to date came from a peep sight.

I've got sub-moa groups from that rifle consistently for over 2 years.

I trust these peeps ruggedness more than I do a scope, and the cost 1/8 of a scope.

It was a response to your "Nobody will ever claim that a scope isn't more accurate, more effective, and easier, but is it more fun? Not for some of us" statement.

Don't make declaratory statements if you don't want called on them.

We all know target peeps are accurate, but few hunt with them.

Just try and stay in the spirit of the thread.

I didn't want it to turn into a target shooting thread. It was perfect until your post.

I gave you a compliment, and then even said please.

Now lets not turn this cool thread into the usual Fire bullshit.

PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No! It was perfect until you made a statement you couldn't defend.

I find it ironic that you continue with this tactic as if I'm ruining it for everyone; when I wouldn't have commented further on that topic... I was going to compliment others on their rifles but then the thread police put a stop to it.

This thread continues to veer off course because of YOU!

Now that I think of it, I have a really nice Lyman 56A that I need to do something with.
I have a model 94 I could put it on, or even that model 71 from my pic.
I'd really like to find a good model 64, though!

How about you parting with your model 64?
I've been looking for one for a while.

Gotta love those old lever actions!

My eyes are not what they used to be, I use a scope, but shoot iron sights at matches.
